This is an overview of the miscellaneous skills in EUO that neither constitute crafting or count as class skills.

Miscellaneous Weapon Skills

Unarmed combat

If your really brave (or stupid), you may choose to only wear non-armour (eg: gi, cap, gloves) and have no weapon (or an UA-weapon) equipped. If this is the case, then you'll be fighting unarmed (and unarmoured). Think of it as fighting monk-style.

Unarmed can be just as effective as regular weapon fighting, so don't be discouraged. It's very fast, and inflicts a lot of critical hits. It is also advantageous in that you carry less armour, so you'll be able to carry more loot and walk around a little more quickly.

  • Damage Type: Bludgeoning (with brass knuckles or fists), Piercing (with neko de) or Slashing (with katars)
  • Stat Dependent Damage Optimisation: 50% str / 50% dex
  • Special Rage Attack: QUIVERING PALM - shocks the targetso that for the next 5 seconds there is a 50% chance that each hit will be a critical (up to a maximum of 3 critical hits). (Note that you may only wear 'unarmoured' gear and be using an 'unarmed' weapon, or your bare hands for this to work.)

Staves

Fighting with a staff will increase your skill in Staves. Combat with staves is just like any other melee weapon, except it is considered to be classless, so any character can develop their staves skill without penalty.

  • Damage Type: Bludgeoning
  • Stat Dependent Damage Optimisation: 50% str / 50% dex
  • Special Attack: MR CLEAVE - the target's Magic Resistance is temporarily reduced, thus making the target substantially weaker to magic.

Note: A minimum of 90% in a weapon skill and 100% rage is required in order to execute a special rage attack with a weapon matching that skill type. For further details on special rage attacks, refer to: Special Rage Attacks

And for a complete list of the various weapons availble as well as their respective weapon types, refer to: Weapon Types

Meditation

Meditation allows one to regain HP and mana at an increased rate. The higher your meditation skill is, the more quickly you will be able to regenerate.

However, while meditating, you will also be blind until another action is performed or until you are hit. Taking a hit while meditating will also cause you to suffer increased damage.

To meditate, simply press m.

Fishing & Cartography

To fish, simply obtain a fishing rod, and use (u) it in the direction of a body of water.

Apart from typical fish, sometimes you may also drag up an old boot or in some cases, even a sea monster. Be careful and prepare yourself for a fight when fishing.

Fishing is a great way to catch food for yourself and your pet, as well as being the most consistent method for finding treasure maps - see the section on Cartography and Treasure Hunting.

Item Lore (Item Identification)

Buy a magnifying glass from a provisioner and use (u) it on an unidentified item on the ground to attempt to identify it. (Note that caution should be taken when identifying items; identify them in a secure location to ensure that they are not stolen.)

The skill required to identify an item is proportional to the quality or value of the item. (Also note that to detect a curse on an item requires additional skill.)

Taming

Taming allows players to tame monsters and animals and use them as allies in combat.

Refer to Pets and Taming for more details on taming.

Healing

Healing is a very useful skill (utilising bandages) that helps one to quickly recover from injuries and various ailments ranging from poison to blindness. With enough skill one can even twart death.

Refer to Healing for more details on healing.

Miscellaneous Abilities

Bash

This strength dependent ability allows a one to break down doors and smash open chests.

Taunt

The use of this ability causes a target to concentrate its attacks on you, thus drawing its attention from other party members.

Dodge

Characters with high dexterity have a small chance to dodge physical attacks entirely; the higher the dexterity, the higher the chance to dodge. However, note that magic cannot be dodged.
