Design & Programming

Max Breedon (eggmceye) coded pretty much 44500 out of 45000 lines of C++ for EUO and its affiliated periphery over the last 6 odd years.

Special thanks to Odin Jensen for the new patcher, as well as his infinite well of pro-tips on C++, and his fastmap template.

Extell wrote the new fishing code, the INT based summoning (KX and KVX) code and the dual-titles for players code. He also designed the basics of the enchanting system.

As far as design goes, egg is the driving force, pilphering what he can from all the games he's played. However, credit must be given to the forums populace for it's cauldron of ideas and feedback.

Hosting

Hosting is now generously provided by David Schmidt of Fusix. Thank you David.

Graphics

Many of the land, building, monster and player tiles were created by Joshua Steele and are used with permission. They're from old and new versions of his replacement tileset for U4. Many thanks to Joshua - see http://moongates.com.

Extell is EUO's official tiler, and has been outstanding. As of today, his original tiles include: werewolves, goblins, the demi lich, golems, imps, and over a dozen new player avatars. His improved U5 tiles include orcs, trolls + many variants.

Other Graphics Contributions

  • Lurid: minotaurs
  • Morthwyl: about a dozen player avatars
  • Dolus: more player avatars
  • Sharingan & Sakura: monsters and player avatars

Many, if not most of the items tiles are made by egg. While many tiles are based on the original U4 & U5, both PC and C64 versions, and modified to taste, there probably isn't anything remaining that's been left untouched from these games.

Also worth noting is that EUO uses the Allegro graphics library: http://www.talula.demon.co.uk/allegro/.

Maps

Many players past and present have contributed maps to EUO. The complete map credits can be found here on the forums. Catherine is the official EUO map editor in chief, and without her efforts, EUO would be simply just an engine.

Quests

egg and Kybare. Broden made the Xile quest & maps.

Sound

Mostly borrowed from various games, some original sounds by egg.

Documentation

Egg, with help from everyone working on this mediawiki. Patrick Kyba has helped with the (as yet unreleased and probably outdated) DM manual, Catherine has a Guide to Maped, and the Netiquette Guide was written by Kodiak.

Installation

Thanks to Tarun for recommending Innosetup and getting the ball rolling and Dj Lizard for maintaining the installer for a while. (Egg now does the installer.)

Finally

Thanks to anyone who plays, reports bugs, suggests ideas and who hasn't been banned. It all helps!

Finally, credit must go to Richard Garriot & Origin of course for the inspiration for the game!
