Artifacts

LaughingCoyote: /* Regular artifacts */

Introduction
Artifacts are items with a distinct name instead of just a description. Unlike normal items with only one enchantment (eg + 5 AS, +3 NV, +15 vigour etc), artifacts are weapons, armor and jewellery that have two or three enchantments. They can also have attributes that are not available otherwise, like +blindness or +asphyxiation. This makes them highly sought after. Artifacts can be divided into two categories:
*"mini-artifacts" that can be bought from npc merchants or crafted by GM crafters,
*"true" or regular artifacts that are only very rarely found from treasure chests and boss drops and cannot be crafted.

Both types of artifacts show up in yellow font or text in your inventory, but only "true artifacts" have a blue glowing outline that is visible when placed on the ground or when equipped as a weapon.

Mini-artifacts
Craftable mini-artifacts

These can be made by the GM crafter of various skills such as Armourer, Tailoring, and Bonecrafting. For example, the Grandmaster Armourer can make Snakefang Grips, the Grandmaster Tailor can make Infernal Handwraps, and the Grandmaster Bonecrafter can make Sash of the Dead. Some craftable mini-artifacts are required as ingredients for Mythic Item Crafting, such as the Enigmatic Bauble made by GM Tinkers.

Silver, Glass and Crystal coin shop mini-artifacts

These mini-artifacts are designed for new characters with low level requirements. Silver coin mini-artifacts have 0 level requirement. Glass mini-artifacts have a level requirement of 25. Glass coin mini-artifacts can then by upgraded by spending crystal coins, which also increases their level requirement to 50 and then to level 75. Glass and crystal coins can be gotten from completing quests from guards or from the daily Scavenger Hunt games.

For example: The Wizard set comes in cap, robes, gloves, slacks and slippers with the prefix Apprentice, Adept and Savant for each tier. Each tier adds an incremental increase in the stats each equipment piece provides.

*3 crystal coins
*1 hellspawn ear

Regular artifacts
These are truly rare items that cannot be crafted or bought from special coin shop, instead they are only found rarely as loot from treasure chests or boss drops. Blessed, crystal, blood or radioactive treasure maps also have a very high to guaranteed rate of acquiring artifacts.

Deconstructing a regular artifact produces mythical material used in Enchanting and Mythic Item Crafting.

Some regular artifact armour items come in sets, which give additional buffs when the complete set is equipped. These are the only ones so far:

*Estorrath's unarmoured wizard set: +10% magic damage
*Ironfist unarmoured gi set: +10% AS
*Nightstalker light armour set: +100 dodge
*Frenzy medium armour set: +10% damage
*Shardcrystal heavy armour set: +10% damage reduction

Regular artifacts are not unique, for (almost) each equipment and weapon type there is an artifact associated with it that can drop with the same name and attributes. For example, Magebane is always a +7 AS scimitar with +IJO, Grim Reaper is always a +7 AS scythe with +KXC (summon daemon), Nightstalker artifacts are always light armour with the same attributes, etc.

Randomly generated artifacts

Random generated artifacts are based of regular artifacts as a template, but with a unique randomly generated name and an additional random attribute. For example, a Superior Shield is a large shield artifact with +4 def and +5 MR. A random generated artifact based of Superior Shield would be a large shield with +4 def, +5 MR and a third attribute like +15 str, or +2 def (making it +6 def, +5 MR), or +health, or even rarer attribute like +sun protection.

Random generated artifacts can be deconstructed to produce mythic material just like regular artifacts, but have a lighter blue glow compared to regular artifacts. They are 2-3x rarer than regular artifacts.

The level requirement for regular and random generated artifacts ranges from level 70 to level 125.

Special Enchantments
Some artifacts have special enchantments on them, indicated by a + or > sign in their item details. +'s are buffs, > are on proc effects inflicted on the defending monster or player.

Enchantment || Effect
+ infravision || Shows positions of monsters and players that are blocked by line of sight
+ trap detection || Displays trapped or cursed items or tiles.
+ true sight || Makes stealthed and invisible monsters and players visible
+ protection || Gives protection against poisoning
+ sun protection || Gives vampires protection against sun damage while standing still
+ speed || Increases walking speed
+ health || Increases health by 10%
+ mana || Increases mana by 10%
+ power || Increases AS and base damage
+ leeching || Increases AS and gains small % of mana from each attack

Proc Enchantment || Effect
> asphyxiation || Chokes target, causing damage over time and preventing spell casts.
> wounding || Causes damage over time, prevents heals. Similar to barbed tint effect.
> hamstringing || Stop target from moving temporarily.
> blind || Makes target blind, prevents monsters from attacking as a result. Players can still melee.

LaughingCoyote: /* Overview */

Overview
In Nordhaven there are several daily repeatable quests with different levels of difficulty. They are basically scavenger hunt mini-games for newbies and novice players, with more advanced scavenger hunts options for higher level players.

The rewards are glass coins and crystal coins which can be spent on special items such as Blueprints or "mini"-Artifacts in the Cash Shop.

Scavenger Hunt
There are two tiers of difficulty, low and high, which give out 3 glass and 3 crystal coins respectively.

The low list scavenger hunt requires small amounts of random items that you can either buy from npc merchants or acquire from hunting monsters, such as tools, potions, monster parts, food.

The high list scavenger hunt requires small amounts of crafting components such as log of attack + X, ingot of defense + Y, leather of Stat + Z, etc. They are acquired from deconstructing enchanted weapon and armor drops using a wand of deconstruction. The enchanted items can be found from hunting bosses or be crafted via the Enchanting skill.

Bulk Orders
This is basically a reward for leveling up Crafting_and_Gathering skills, as there are ten different order requirements for ten different crafting and gathering skills, needing large quantities of different craftable items to complete.

Statue Hunt
The Statue Hunt mini-game just has one tier of difficulty and requires using a wand of petrification to be used on the monster to create the statue you turn in for a reward of 3 crystal coins. This is one of the more expensive to complete mini-games as wand of petrification are rare drops and cannot be crafted.

Daily Boss
There are 3 tiers of difficulty for this kill-a-boss mini-game: Low, Medium and High boss targets with rewards of 1, 2, 3 crystal coins respectively.

*Low boss targets are typically: low level humanoids such as ettins, goblins, low level undead such as ghosts, etc
*Medium boss targets are typically: higher level humanoids such as minotaurs, underworld beasts such as mothra, etc
*High boss targets are typically: dragons, high level undead such as liches and ancient vampires, etc
Living of the Land (LOTL)

LaughingCoyote: /* Tips & Tricks */

“The rules for Living off the Land are simple. No trade, no banking, no merchants, and no picking up anything off the ground that wasn’t dropped by something you killed. Now you know what it means to ‘Live off the Land!’” - the LOTL Leprechaun

Introduction
Living off the Land (LOTL) is an survival themed game mode in EUO that you can only opt-in to when you start a new character. Whole swathes of the game is now off limits to you. As the LOTL Leprechaun states:

*You can't trade: so you can't get items from other players. You can't pick up any item that isn't soulbound to you (ie flagged as your possession from killing a monster or from crafting it yourself).
*You can't bank: so once you hit your carry limit you have nowhere to store excess items. Unless you have a house. Inventory management becomes very important.
*Almost no merchants: you can't buy from most NPC merchants. That means no easy access to potions, weapons, food, scrolls, ec.
*Exceptions to the no merchants rule are: the glass, silver, crystal and adamantium coin merchants in Nordhaven. You can also buy house deeds for the 50k gp housing towns from the LOTL House Deed merchant in Darbrough.
*LOTL players can access trainers (ie at the University) & ability trainers (ie spell trainers)

However, you can interact with quest NPCs and complete most if not all quests.

Becoming LOTL
To be eligible for LOTL your character must be level 1, have zero experience and have not picked up or traded an item. To flag yourself for LOTL, the slash command is:

*/lotl 1

To turn LOTL off, the command is:

*/lotl 0

You can turn LOTL off for your LOTL enabled character at anytime, but once you do it is irreversible.

Changes in game play
* if you have a tool in your inventory it won't drop again, slightly increasing your chances of getting all tools
* most tools and wands do not randomly break in use, with the exception of fishing rods when you fish in lava or the void or acquire dragonscale boots
* low level LOTL players get a small increase in food and potions drops from bosses
* LOTL players get increased returns from using deconstruction wands and polypile wands
* lutes drop as a tool for LOTL
* LOTL players get a seed when eating apples, tomatoes, peppers (only)
* LOTL players can only store items in chests that they've crafted themselves
* LOTL players can't share xp with non-LOTL players (and vice versa) in a party, if LOTL player/s gets last hit they get all the xp.
* LOTL players in a party share xp as normal, but the player that does the last hit on boss gets the loot

Tips & Tricks
Having an existing house tied to your account is a massive plus as it allows you to store items since you can't use the bank, you must however have created the intended chest yourself.

Polypiling is your friend. Deconstruction wand is your friend.

It is possible to transfer items to non-lotl characters from a lotl character, but not the other way around. This is possible because when soulbound items are abandoned on the ground, there is a period just before it is considered "trash" by the server and is cleaned up but is no longer soulbound. i.e. abandon item on ground --> soulbound is removed --> server cleans items up. That gap lets other non-lotl characters pick up the item.

Warning
Not for newbies! No seriously, not for new players, even if you are a masochist! Lotl is meant to be a very restrictive form of playing for experienced EUO players who want an extra challenge.
