This needs a rewrite - too conversational.

Seekers of fortune, apply here to find out how to stake your claim!

First off, what items do you need to be a treasure hunter? You need a few shovels (buyable), a fishing pole (buyable) and a treasure map (found with fishing).

Secondly, what skills does it take?

Fishing and Cartography.

If you want to begin your life hunting treasure, you first need the proper equipment stated above. Next, go to a body of water and start fishing and soon you will find a map sealed in a bottle. When you use it, you will get a set of coordinates. Head there and begin searching for treasure. I kept on digging on the spot the map told me, but no treasure. Whats wrong?

Your cartography skill determines how well you interperet the map, which in turn is how exact the coordinates are. So novice hunters will have to do a bit of searching, while master hunters will nail it almost immediately. I just got 20 gold from the chest, is this actually worth it?

Keep going, the quality of the maps you find is determined by your fishing skill, so it is a good idea for a treasure hunter to max out fishing, as well as cartography. Can treasure be located in mountains, or in the ocean?

No, the chest will be buried somewhere where you can walk. What drops can I get from a chest?

Gold and provisions mostly, but there's always a chance for a nice weapon or slice of armour.
