Magic is similar to Ultima in that spells are cast by chanting words (eg An Nox), however, spells do not need to be mixed nor ingredents needed. The player can only cast spells that he already knows - and to learn new spells one must acquire the appropriate scrolls.

Scrolls can be bought from your nearest Scribe-merchant. To read a scroll in order to learn the spell, simply press 'shift-C', select the scroll and the spell will be learned. You can cast the scroll (but not learn it) but using it (with 'shift-R'), this way of casting has 100% success rate but can only be used once per scroll.

Spells have a difficulty rating and the player's success in casting depends on the spell difficulty (circle) and his magery skill. The mana used is directly proportinal to the spell level.
